Activities

In 1995, the Spring Grove Heritage Foundation was founded as a non-profit 501(c)(3) exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes. Through the sponsorship of events, tours, workshops and seminars, the Spring Grove Heritage Foundation serves to promote Spring Grove's cultural, historic, and natural resources. The Foundation also plays an important role in promoting the arboretum by supporting its development and display of plants, including rare or unique species, and conducting programs and studies of horticultural education. Spring Grove's finely designed and maintained landscape continues to attract visitors to its world-class arboretum and nature sanctuary.

Docent Program

Developed by the Spring Grove Heritage Foundation in 2004 to further promote Spring Grove's historic and natural resources, the Docent Program has enlisted and trained volunteer guides who conduct historical tours and represent Spring Grove in its community outreach to schools, social groups and civic organizations. Our docents are helpful and friendly to the thousands of visitors who pass through the iron gates of the cemetery each year to attend a tour or special event program. The interest and passion about history, art, architecture, and landscape by the docents is infectious and new docents are quickly caught up in an atmosphere which breeds a love for history and its impact on today’s world. If you love art, architecture, history, and horticulture, then consider joining the Docent Program. To experience Spring Grove’s art, history, architecture, and horticulture in person, the Spring Grove Heritage Foundation sponsors public and private walking/tram/bus tours from April through October. More information about our events and public tours may be found on our events page, and private group tours may be booked through the tour coordinator by calling 513.853.TOUR (8687).
